Instrument of Governance

 

The name of the school is St Michael & All Angels C.E (Foundation) Primary School.

 

The school is a Church of England Foundation School.

 

The name of the governing body is “The governing body of St Michael & All Angels C.E (Foundation) Primary School”

 

The governing body shall consist of:

  • Two parent governors
  • One LA governor
  • One staff governor
  • One Headteacher
  • Two foundation governors
  • Three co-opted governors

 

Total number of governors 10

 

Appointment of foundation governors:

Foundation governors are appointed by the Diocesan Board of Education for the Diocese of Leeds

(a) The holder of the following office shall be a foundation governor ex officio: Rector of Shelf St Michael with Buttershaw St Aiden

(b)  The Archdeacon of Bradford in the Episcopal area of Bradford shall be entitled to appoint a foundation governor to act in the place of the ex officio foundation governor whose Bradford governorship derives from the office named in (a) above, in the e vent that the ex officio foundation governor is unable or unwilling to act as a foundation governor, or has been removed from office under regulation 21(1) of the Regulations

 

(a) The foundation governors themselves, after consultation with the Diocesan Board of Education for the Diocese, are entitled to request the removal of any ex officio foundation governor

 

St Michael & All Angels C.E (Foundation) Primary School is a school designated as having a religious character and who whose ethos is derived from a Church of England Foundation

 

Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level

 

The school aims to serve its community by providing education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.  It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers all its pupils

 

This Instrument of Government comes into effect on 31st August 2015

 

This Instrument was made by order of Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council

 

A copy of the Instrument must be supplied to every member of the governing body (and Headteacher if not a governor), any trustees and to the appropriate religious body
