Food and snacks in school

Nut Free School!

Please do not send any nut products into school as we have children with severe nut allergies.

There are also other allergies across school and classes will be made aware if needed.

Our School Meals

Mrs Fiona Averill, our school cook and her team make all our meals on site.  Our kitchen has a five star food hygiene rating.

School meals are pre-ordered termly and you can see the current menu at the bottom of this page.  We have had a number of theme days for school meals including Harry Potter, the Royal Wedding, Italian Day and a Great British Day.

There may be seasonal amendments or minor alterations to menus.

Toast Tuck

Toast is served each Tuesday and Friday at morning break times.  As we are now cashless, if you would like your child to have this optional extra (at a cost of 20p per serving) you can buy this item for the whole of the term by making a purchase in the shop section of SchoolMoney.  Pre-School do not have this extra service as they already have mid-morning snack every day.

Infant Free School Meals

As part of the Governments Free School Meal Initiative School provides universal free school meals to all pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 but did you know that older children may be eligible for free school meals if you receive any of the following:

  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

  • Working Tax Credit run-on

  • Universal Credit

The Government’s website has further information as well as details on how to apply https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals

Drinks

As a school we encourage our children to drink a range of healthy drinks throughout the school day e.g. water and milk. Children are encouraged to drink water, which is available throughout the school day. To support this, all children must bring a water bottle to school. These bottles may only contain plain water and may be refilled at the water coolers when needed.

We also provide a milk scheme that is available to all of our pupils. Each pupil that registers with Cool Milk will receive a carton of fresh, chilled, semi-skimmed milk everyday in school. School milk is free for all under-fives and is subsidised for pupils aged five or older at a cost of 25p per 189ml portion. If your child is entitled to Pupil Premium funding then they can also have milk for free.  Please ask at the office for further details of the milk scheme.
