Science
At St Michael and All Angels we aim to promoting pupils to be resilient, responsible learners with curious minds and a thirst for knowledge. Striving to become compassionate and respectful members of the community; embracing diversity and encouraging the best in others.
Our science curriculum and teaching is well planned to provide our children with a wider understanding of the world around them. We use a thoroughly designed skills progression and a progressive scheme of work in order to ensure that children learn crucial scientific skills that will prepare them for high school and later life. We strive to enthuse children with a love of science, that they are inquisitive and want to know why. As we wish to develop different types of scientific enquiry, we ensure investigations and practice of skills take place regularly. We continue to develop the outdoor space within school and ensure full use of resources we have available.
In Early Years and foundation stage the adults will provide opportunities for the children to build confidence and try new activities showing independence, resilience and perseverance in the face of challenge. Children will explore and make observations of the natural world. They will discover similarities and differences and understand important processes and changes including changing seasons and changing states of matter.
