Science
At St Michael and All Angels, we aim to promote resilience and responsibility in our pupils, encouraging them to become curious learners with a thirst for knowledge. We strive to nurture compassionate and respectful members of the community who embrace diversity and inspire the best in others.
Our science curriculum is carefully planned to give children a broad understanding of the world around them. Through a well-structured skills progression and a progressive scheme of work, we ensure pupils develop essential scientific skills that prepare them for high school and beyond. We aim to spark a love of science, encouraging inquisitiveness and a desire to ask “why.” To foster different types of scientific enquiry, we provide regular opportunities for investigations and hands-on practice. We also continue to enhance our outdoor learning spaces and make full use of the resources available.
In the Early Years Foundation Stage, adults create opportunities for children to build confidence, show independence, and develop resilience and perseverance when faced with challenges. Children explore and observe the natural world, discovering similarities and differences and learning about important processes and changes, including seasonal changes and states of matter.
