Mrs Fiona Averill, our school cook and her team make all our meals on site. Our kitchen has a five star food hygiene rating.
School meals are pre-ordered on a menu sheet which is sent home fortnightly to be completed and returned to school. There are copies of the menus at the bottom of this page. We have had a number of theme days for school meals including Harry Potter, the Royal Wedding and most recently our Italian themed lunch.
There are occasions when the weekly menu sheets may not automatically go in numerical order depending upon suppliers. Also, there may be seasonal amendments or minor alterations to menus.
As part of the Governments Free School Meal Initiative School provides universal free school meals to all pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 but did you know that older children may be eligible for free school meals if you receive any of the following:
Income based Jobseeker’s Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance
Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit (as long as you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
Working Tax Credit run-on
The Government’s website has further information as well as details on how to apply https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals
As a school we encourage our children to drink a range of healthy drinks throughout the school day e.g. water and milk. Children are encouraged to drink water, which is available throughout the school day. To support this, all children must bring a water bottle to school. These bottles may only contain plain water and may be refilled at the water coolers when needed.
We also provide a milk scheme that is available to all of our pupils. Each pupil that registers with Cool Milk will receive a carton of fresh, chilled, semi-skimmed milk everyday in school. School milk is free for all under-fives and is subsidised for pupils aged five or older at a cost of 22p per 189ml portion. If your child is entitled to Pupil Premium funding then they can also have milk for free.
