British Values

Promoting Fundamental British Values

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is "right" and "wrong", all people living in England are subject to its law.

It is vitally important our children feel confident to challenge opinions and behaviours that contradict both our school values and school learning behaviours and especially the British Values.

The British Values are:

•Democracy

•The rule of law

•Individual liberty

•Mutual respect

•Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

Section 26 of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 places a duty on us to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. It is vital we uphold this duty and if there are concerns Safeguarding policies will be referred to where appropriate.

Should you feel that the school is not meeting this requirement, you should contact the school office and request to express your concerns with the Head Teacher.

Likewise, if you feel that anyone working at the school is intentionally or otherwise undermining these values, you should report this to the Head Teacher.
